Letters name pitches; numbers identify octaves. A dash means rest. Easy mode uses one beat for every event.

A small practice plan

  1. Mark the F-sharp and C-sharp keys before playing.
  2. Count the long notes for their full two beats.
  3. Listen for a smooth descending line in the first eight notes.
  4. Keep your hand relaxed as the melody moves into the lower octave.
  5. Treat the intermediate bass notes as a practice guide, not the complete continuo.
