Prelude in C Major

Johann Sebastian Bach · C major · Easy arpeggio study

Educational theme excerpt. Draft: human play-through and source-edition review pending.

Four-bar arpeggio attack-order reduction, not the original two-hand texture. Original key keeps sixteenth-note attack spacing but shortens held lower voices to each attack. Easy gives each attack one beat. Intermediate adds a low root cue at each bar opening. The remaining bars and sustained accompaniment are outside this study.

Letters name pitches; numbers identify octaves. A dash means rest. Easy mode uses one beat for every event.

A small practice plan

  1. Learn C4, E4, G4, C5, E5 before adding the return to G4.
  2. Read each eight-note pattern twice; that pair forms one source bar.
  3. Move the hand back toward C4 between patterns instead of holding a wide stretch.
  4. Notice D and A in the second bar, then B3 in the third bar.
  5. Use Original key for quarter-beat attacks. The original sustained lower voices are not supplied by this reduction.
